4. What does “Delivery Exception” or “Alert” mean?

Answer: This status indicates the mail carrier encountered an obstacle, such as a blocked driveway, an animal at the location, or a lack of a secure place to leave the item.

Solution: USPS will typically attempt delivery again the next business day. You can also use the official USPS site to Schedule a Redelivery.

5. Why is my package “Available for Pickup”?

Answer: This usually happens if the package required a signature and you weren’t home, or if the item was too large to fit in your mailbox or parcel locker.

Solution: Visit your local Post Office with a Photo ID to claim your item. Note that USPS only holds packages for 15 days before returning them to the sender.

6. Why do I get a “Not Found” error when I enter my number?

For Damaged Items: If the shipment was insured (Priority or Express), you can file an insurance claim online. Keep the damaged item and packaging as proof for the inspection.

Yes, via USPS Package Intercept®. For a fee (approx. $17–$18 + postage), you can redirect a domestic shipment that hasn’t been delivered yet. Alternatively, you can use Hold Mail to keep all your mail at the post office for 3 to 30 days while you are away.
